is a phenomenal one as it offers the most exotic sides of remotest areas of West-Northern Nepal where the foreign and local travelers have hardly left their footsteps behind. Blue Pine, Cedar, Spruce, Hemlock, Artemisia, Paris Polyphilla, Cordyseps, Pine , and fir trees fill the forest while Musk deer, Indian leopard, red panda, snow leopard, yellow- throated marten,Himalayan black bear, dhole, gray langur, rhesus macaque, Himalayan monal, kalij pheasant, Himalayan snow cock are frequently spotted in Rara National Park Area. Meanwhile, spectacular Jomsom, located at 2800 meters, the  headquarter of Mustang unfolds exclusive side of the remote alpine settlement from where trekkers can relish the panoramic view of Nilgiri and Tukuche. The deepest gorge in the world, Kaligandaki and the eternal flame by a brook underground at Muktinath in Jomsom are the other assets of the trail.

Trail Description
Technically stating, Jumla- Rara Lake- via Dolpo Jomsom Trekking– 38 Days starts with a sightseeing of the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu (1400m) prior to a flight to Nepalguaj() from where another to Jumla (2370) opens up a hiking  through Ghumurti(2540m), Dachelagna(3130m), Chautha(2770m), Dhotu(2380m), en route to Rara Lake(3060m), where a short excursion provide us refreshment. Traversing ahead, we then hike to Gossain(3190m), Sinja(2440m), Jaljala(3270m), en route to Jumla(2370m). Continuing ahead, the trail leads us through Ghothichaur(2780m), Naphukana(2990m), Chaurikot(3070m), Kai gau (2610m), Toijem(2910m) , Kang Maral Phedi(4240m), Lasa(4150m), Army Camp(3150), Ringmo Phoksundo Lake(3600m) where a day’s excursion for refreshment is taken. Thereafter, we make a headway towards Bagala Phedi(4150m), Pelungtang(4465m), Numala Pass(5190m), Jalung Gompa(4520m), Dho(4150m), Mahala Phedi(4250m), Charkhala Phedi(4290m), Charkha Village(4050m), Yak Kharka(4250m), Bheri Kharka(4670m), Thula(5400m), Sanda Phedi(4450m), Thapa Pass(5200m), Marpha(2670m), en route to Jomsom(2750m), from where a flight to Pokhara(800m) brings the trekking to an end.

The commencement of the trek entails sightseeing of the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Thereafter a scenic flight to Nepalgunj and Juphal opens a door to the mesmerizing world. A plethora of fauna and flora, the region has more than 236 species of birds and many other endangered species of animals are existent here.  Rara Lake (9.8km2) in Rara National Park is another tourist attraction. The enigmatic view of Kanjirowa Himalayan range in Jumla above the forested ridges sends to your heart peace and tranquility. The color changing Shey-phoksundo lake in Phoksundo National Park with Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Massif alongside Rara in addition to Bonpo and Tibetan people of Dopo who are the major inhabitants and the 800 year old Shey Gompa has been a tourist attraction since 1989 that was when the trail was introduced as  a trekking destination.

Jumla - Rara lake - via Dolp Jomsom is considered as the a strenuous trekking. There are countless slopes and uphill ascents at the altitude of 3500 meters. Every trekker has to hike over five thousand meter's altitude which puts physical strain on you. No accommodation is available on the trail that compels the trekking to be rather a camping trekking. Walking up and down the trans-Himalayan trail will prove to be physical strenuous as well as adventurous. With proper acclimatization taken at different points on the trail, you will better adjust to the complexities of the trail. Those who are overweight will shed some weight on the long strenuous journey.

December, January and February are not the ideal times to visit Jumla, Rara Lake and Dolpo , Jomsom as the snowfall over 3500 meters create blockages on the trail. Despite the temperature that drops to sub-zero, the water at Rara Lake never freezes. During the witner, the airports are shut down most of the time because of the excessive snowfalls. March to May is one of the best times to visit the lake as the sky remains crystal blue and rhododendron along with several flowers start painting the entire jungle area.We don't recomment June to August because you will be faced with heavy and incessant raifalls. On the contrary, September to November are supportive.

Jumla– Rara lake– via Dolpo Jomsom Trekking– 38 Physical Fitness
This is actually one of the longest trekking on one of the most off the beaten land of Nepal. The trekking in itself seems to be a fitness trekking since you will have certain amount of your weight lost. You are not required to be super fit with muscular arms and six packs but the basic level of fitness must be there which will make you feel the trail much easier and exciting. You will have to hike through altitude passes and be able to walk six to seven hours a day, which clearly depends on the condition of your physical state. You will have to hike through five thousand meters altitude at times which is again related to physical strain.

From the climatic point of view, summer offers the most pleasant weather for Jumla Rara Lake via Dolp Jomsom.  September to October and April to May are times with the best weather for Jumla - Rara lake- via Dolpo Jomsom Trekking. The annual rainfall in this are is close to fifty mm. As you hike through the passes, ups and downs of the trans-Himalayan terrain, you will be faced with the weather with a wide range of variation. If you are trekking in the region on the suggested time, you will be unlikely facing weather related problems. With some of the areas being in the rainshadow area, there will be the least amount of the rain. Specifically stating, spring and autumn weather are the most favoured other than summer.

We visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, where we take a flight to Nepalgunja. We take another flight to Jumla. Then we hike up to Ghumurti, Dachelagna, Chautha, Dhotu, en route to Rara Lake. After the visit of the lake, we  hike to Gossain, Sinja, Jaljala, en route to Jumla. Continuing ahead through Ghothichaur, Naphukana, Chaurikot, Kai gau, Toijem, Kang Marara Phedi, Lasa, Army Camp, Ringmo Phoksundo Lake, Bagala Phedi, Pelungtang, Numala Pass, Jalung Gompa, Dho, Mahala Phedi, Charkhala Phedi, Charkha Village, Yak Kharka, Bheri Kharka, Thula, Sanda Phedi, Thapa Pass, Marpha, en route to Jomsom, from where a flight to Pokhara.
