Prior to it, a short archeo-monumental sightseeing in Kathmandu along with the preparation of drive to Shivalaya (1790m) next day, that opens up a hiking with a backpack  en-route via Bhandar (2391m), Namkheti(2300m),Naur Gompa (2993m), Pike Dada(4070m), Junbesi (2700m), Veri Kharka (3241m)   to Dudh Kunda Lake (4560m) locally believed to be the protector God of Solukhumbu that lies in the lap of  Mount Numbur (6958m). After the visit of the destination, we hike via Barkhe Kharka and Chiwang Gompa towards Phaplu(2413m) ending point of the trek and flight to Kathmandu.

Lexically, “Dhudh” l means milk and “Kunda” means lake or pool. In this sense, Dhudh Kunda simply means Milky Lake. The locals in the region believe that Dhudh Kundha has a healing power and whoever takes a dip into it can have their wishes granted.  Under the same belief,  people following Hinduism , Buddhism and Kirat flock here every to carry out rituals to stay blessed. During the full moon nights of August, pilgrims and shamans visit Dhudkunda and perform a week long ritual at Dhudh Kunda. Devotees in this region have a long-held belief that their sins can be redeemed, and childless parents can have children after a ritualistic dip into the lake.

Accommodations in Kathmandy and Trekking
The team will take an accommodation in a three star hotel in Kathmandu. Nirvana Hotel will be the right choice for that matter, where the accommodations are available in double-shared basis. However, single supplement with slightly increased price can be provided depending on the demand of an individual. Himalayan Wild Treks can arrange rooms with attached bathrooms that have cold and hot water running 24/7 for shower and other purposes. However, there are teahouses that have shared washing and toilet arrangements during the trekking. Also, it is worth noting that single rooms are rare to find at higher elevations.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements
This trek being a moderate of sort requires a good health of a person with ability to walk on the trail for at least five to seven hours carrying a light backpack. Walking at higher elevations require more physical stamina than at lower elevations but since this is an average route anyone with good health, willingness to walk and passion for travel can enjoy it. For the warm up, physical orientation needed for this elevation can be gained through various exercises that can be done prior to the commencement of the journey. In addition to the sound condition of heart, lung and entire setting of a body, past hiking experiences will be a plus point. Besides, it is advisable that those with any past health problems have to make sure that are medically able to walk on the trail. It is also advised that you inform Himalayan Wild Treks of any conditions before booking the trek.

 

Meals in Dudh Kunda  Trekking
Typical Nepalese food is the specialty we will relish on our journey in addition to the international cuisine that is Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian and so on. Breakfast and dinner will be provided according to menu that is in the lodge or a guest house. As for the lunch, it will be provided on the way to the next destination. All meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner, will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners.

 

Best Time to Travel in Dudh kunda
As for the propitious seasons to carry out the trekking in the Everest Region, the suggestable time would be September to November and March to May. During these times, the visit will be showered with the arcane beauty of the nature and the outstanding landscape views. To avoid the traffic, you can choose any of the times from December to February. It is also to be informed that during the winter the temperature here goes down low that poses challenges to the travelers. Except for botanists, the trekking in this region in monsoon or summer that is from June to August can be impacted by the rain.

 Highligh of Dudh Kund Trek
The  salient UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu  gives a window into the spectacular archaeological and  cultural heritages of antique Nepal. The trail traverses through grassy valleys, forested hills, and  rustic settlements resided by Sherpa Ethnicity. A week long ritual performance at Dudhkunda Lake that brings a religious unity of Buddhist and Hinduists makes it phenomenal. While venturing into a dense alpine zones forested with fir, pine, rhododendron, and several other species of flora, we get into Sagarmatha National Park, a renown UNESCO World Heritage Site in Solukhumbu. The stunning view of  Mount Numbur  and  Mount Dhudkunda  including Mount Everest  from Dudhkunda  Lake fills the heart with spiritual tranquility and peace.
